Old Town man, 73, dies in 2-vehicle crash in Chiefland

A 73-year-old Old Town man was killed on Friday morning when a pickup truck failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with his vehicle in Chiefland.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 24-year-old Cedar Key woman was driving a pickup truck east on NW 110th Street at 9:30 a.m. when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of NW 14th Street and hit the Old Town man, who was driving a sedan and traveling north on NW 14th Street.  The pickup truck the left side of the sedan.

Emergency responders pronounced the Old Town man dead on scene.

The Cedar Key driver, along with a 34-year-old Cedar Key man riding in the pickup truck, sustained minor injuries. Neither the pickup truck driver nor the passenger was reportedly wearing a seatbelt.
