What sounded like fireworks turned out to be gunfire at a Lake City house on Monday evening.

According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) press release, responding officers discovered 26 bullet holes in a NE Cherry Lane residence around 10 p.m.

Two victims—who initially believed the sound to be fireworks—reported hearing gunfire from outside and witnessed bullets coming inside the home.

LCPD officers located the spot where the gunfire apparently originated and collected shell casings, along with bullet fragments from inside the home.

“It was just the house, luckily no one was injured,” said LCPD spokesperson Greg Burnsed.

LCPD is asking anyone with information concerning this incident to contact investigators at (386) 752-4343.
